Activity Instructor: Michelle Mateo, Maurice Clother, Michelle Mau


Activity Duration: One full day


Max Participants: 5


Participant Requirements: Appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather.


Activity Tasks

  • Bowl turning
  • Ash splint basket making#.
  • Wood turning lathe
  • Band saw

Objectives

To create turned craft products such as bowls and plates.

To instruct participants in the use of a shave Horse, Draw Knife and steam equipment to create furniture items.

To test the participants competency to operate these machine and hand tools safely and effectively.

To instruct the participants in the care and maintenance of all tools.


Tools & Materials Used

  • All tools provided

Outcomes

  • Learning how to plan, prepare and design natural wood into homeware items using traditional woodcrafting skills.
