Cheryl is a registered Mental Health Nurse, BABCP accredited CBT psychotherapist and a former member of the Armed Forces.
Following her career in the Royal Air Force Police, Cheryl embarked on travels that led to working in the United states and France during ski season.
In 2009 she commenced her new career in Mental Health, largely informed by things she had seen in her military role as well as from her heritage born into the troubles of 1980’s Northern Ireland.
She later became a forensic nurse working on medium secure units, and then trained as a psychotherapist where she today practices CBT and EMDR therapy within Primary Care Mental Health Services.
In September 2020 Cheryl came aboard the Pen-Y -Graig project and joined the team as Care Plan Manager. For Cheryl this was a way to combine her love and appreciation of the outdoors as well as her passion for working with recovery for individuals with trauma and other Mental health difficulties.
Outside of work Cheryl enjoys running, yoga, arts and crafts and time with her 2 beloved cats.
“2020 has been an incredibly tough year for us all, and none more so perhaps than for our front line services. I am thrilled to be able to join a project that supports recovery and wellbeing in such a beautiful space”.
