Partner and family support group

On Friday 17th January 2020 the first meeting of the “Partner & Family Support” Steering Group was held at Monmouthshire County Council HQ in Usk

The meeting was chaired by Programme Director James Cooke and included Dr Simon Poole from Chester University. Emma Ashfield HMF Education & Family Support, Joe Skidmore Monmouthshire Community Wellbeing Lead and Gillian McIntosh a volunteer partner

This group will develop a set of action plans which support the programmes participants by:

  • Delivering training and awareness to partners and their families about acute mental health conditions and how to support the partner whilst also protecting their own health
  • Promoting good practice in care techniques and therapies at home
  • Offering respite breaks and social activities to partners and their families
  • Collaborating with local charities and organisations offering specialist services to partners and their families

The steering group will meet every 3 months at County Hall Usk
